Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education
Hovingham Primary School takes its responsibility to provide relevant, effective and responsible Living and Growing sessions to all of its pupils as part of the school’s personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) curriculum very seriously. The school wants parents/carers and pupils to feel assured that Living and Growing will be delivered at a level appropriate to both the age and development of pupils.
Definition
Living and Growing is lifelong learning about physical, moral and emotional development. It is about the understanding of stable and loving relationships, respect, love and care. It is also about the teaching of sex, sexuality and sexual health. It is not about the promotion of sexual orientation or sexual activity – this would be inappropriate teaching. SRE Guidance DFE 2000.
