Shelagh Henderson
Chair of Governors
My name is Shelagh Henderson and I have recently been elected onto the Governing Board of Hovingham Primary.
I am a co-opted Governor and have taken on the role of Chair of Governors. I am also Chair Governors at Kerr Mackie Primary School in Leeds.
My background is I am Yorkshire born and bred and have lived in Leeds since getting married in 1978. I have two children, five grandchildren and a young dog!
My career has been in teaching, the last twenty years were as a Primary Headteacher in two different schools. I was always passionate about inspiring children to learn and have high ambitions. I have a love of outdoor education and am a keen advocate of personal and social education as I believe a healthy mind and healthy body build confident adults.
Since retiring I have enjoyed going back to some simple pleasures in life such as baking gardening, walking (especially with the dog) swimming, volunteering and of course being a Governor.
I am looking forward to supporting the school and its pupils.
